Ingredients

  • 12 ounces pale ale
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 2 tablespoons packed light brown sugar
  • Zest from 1 lemon
  • Juice from 2 lemons
  • 1/4-inch piece peeled ginger root, sliced
  • 3 allspice berries
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1/2 cinnamon stick

Instructions

  1. Combine the ale, cider, brown sugar, lemon zest and juice, ginger, allspice, cloves, and cinnamon stick in a large pot over low heat.
  2. Stir occasionally and heat for about 30 minutes, ensuring the mixture does not boil.
  3. Strain the mixture, discarding the solids.
  4. Divide the warm beverage into mugs and serve, optionally garnishing with a cinnamon stick.
