Ingredients

  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/3 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons brandy (optional)
  • Whipped topping (for garnish)
  • Ground cinnamon or nutmeg (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. In a saucepan over medium-high heat, combine the milk, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Bring to a gentle boil.
  3. Slowly add the hot milk mixture to the egg mixture, whisking constantly to incorporate.
  4. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium heat until slightly thickened, stirring constantly.
  5. Once thickened, remove from heat and let it cool completely.
  6. Once cooled, whisk in the heavy cream, vanilla, and brandy (if using).
  7. Cover and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight.
