Basil Lemon Sparkler
A refreshing and effervescent cocktail featuring fresh basil, lemon-infused simple syrup, and chilled Champagne, perfect for summer gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 batch Simple Syrup
- 3 (1-inch-long) strips of lemon peel
- 3 large fresh basil leaves
- 1 (750 ml) bottle chilled Champagne or dry sparkling wine
- Garnish: basil leaves and lemon peel twists
Instructions
- Prepare the simple syrup and add the lemon peel strips and fresh basil leaves. Steep for 30 minutes, then strain the mixture and discard the solids. Cool to room temperature for 1 hour.
- Pour the cooled syrup into a 2- to 3-qt. pitcher.
- Stir in the chilled Champagne or dry sparkling wine.
- Fill 6 stemless wine glasses with ice.
- Pour the cocktail evenly into the glasses.
- Garnish with basil leaves and lemon peel twists.
